these photos are not in order of the day they happened because i used two different cameras and blogger won't post them the way i want them to be.
one day we went to a local park and walked a mile or two. uncle nick aka mike's 21 year old brother and his girlfriend, julie.
kaylee asking for a shoulder ride.
nick was excited because he got to see turtles and a blue lizard. of course he was calling them by their scientific names. [he really wanted to see snakes. i'm glad we didn't see any]
on another day we went to the rodeo. it was like the elkhart county fair but cleaner. it was also nice to see the young folks dressed in cowboy gear rather than baggy- to- your- knee's jeans.
[on ferris wheel number 1]
we ate cowboy nachos [made with beef brisket!], sweet peach tea, a funnel cake and a fried snickers. all of it was YUMMO!
another time we went to the sam houston national forest. we were asked if we brought bug spray- we hadn't but didn't need, and water, which we all said yes as to not look like stupid city folks except we kept the water in the car, like stupid city folks.
mike pushing his mom down this hill. not really but i yelled "wait! let me get a picture!" that's why they're laughing. we ended up walking 6 miles. we didn't want to get lost and try and find our car so the best solution was to walk the way we came. i ended up giving kaylee a piggy back ride for about 1/4 of it. i wouldn't of been able to do that pre -personal trainer.
back to the rodeo. kaylee got to ride some rides.
and go on ferris wheel number 2.
mike and kaylee raced down the slide. mike won because he's heavier.
hot tubbing. the kids did lots of hot tubbing especially after hearing that it was snowing back in indiana.
the first night we didn't do much since our guests were the ones who had to get up early for their flight. we did, however, wait an hour and 35 minutes for a table at pf changs for dinner. we were told it could be an hour and 45 minute wait. we got lucky! [sarcasm]
we also tried to go to the beach in galveston on friday since it was suppose to be the warmest day. we ended up in traffic for an hour and half and was only half way there with no end in sight. mike decided he had enough and turned the car around. we stopped at tgi fridays for lunch. it was awful and smelly. after an hour and half in more traffic, we finally made it home. 4 hours in a car and we ended up no where! what a wasted day. [we could of stayed home and layed out in the sun by the pool]
but it was still a very nice spring break. i didn't have to cook much- 3 meals? i call that a win.
